ST. LOUIS, July 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Signature Care Management, a national leader in managing orthopedic episodes of care, and the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE), the leading national association for orthopedic practice management and advocacy, have announced Signature's CareMOSAIC as the first episode care management platform to connect to the AAOE Data Warehouse. The AAOE Data Warehouse provides orthopedic practices direct access to national benchmarking data, vital in value-based care decision-making. CareMOSAIC greatly improves ease of reporting data, including patient reported outcomes and patient satisfaction reports, to the Data Warehouse. As a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) approved 2018 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR), the AAOE Data Warehouse also helps providers fulfill their MIPS reporting requirements.
"Teaming up with AAOE to bring CareMOSAIC into the Data Warehouse is a win, win, win," said Mike Medler, Senior Director of Technology and Analytics at Signature, "Orthopedic providers have streamlined access for submitting to a national qualified data registry, physicians and practice executives have immediate and real-time access to data critical to making quality improvements in the care management practices, and through improved care decisions and design, patients receive higher quality care and outcomes."
Signature Care Management currently manages the largest orthopedic bundle payment program in the country under CMS' Bundled Payment for Care Improvement (BPCI) initiative, overseeing 55 orthopedic practices in 27 states managing 45,000 Medicare surgical episodes annually. CareMOSAIC's award-winning web-based case management platform is credited with helping these BPCI practices achieve significant improvements in orthopedic care management and quality. This includes reducing post-acute care costs by an average of 42% and achieving reductions across a wide range of adverse outcomes, including a 24% reduction in 30-day hospital readmission rates.
CareMOSAIC provides for both the financial and clinical elements of care to be integrated into real-time analytics. Case management workflows are streamlined to improve management of patient care throughout the episode. Detailed and summary reports guide strategic planning and provide information for day-to-day case management, both of which are critical to successfully managing episodes of care. Case managers already report on patient reported outcomes (PROs) in CareMOSAIC and now those results can easily be uploaded directly to AAOE's Data Warehouse.
"We are excited that Signature's CareMOSAIC is now connected to the AAOE Data Warehouse," said Vicki Sprague, Director of Data Solutions at AAOE. "Linking CareMOSAIC to the AAOE Data Warehouse will enhance the ability for AAOE's more than 850 orthopedic member practices to report and compare their performance to their peers nationally, which informs care management decisions that can improve orthopedic care and quality across the country."
