SIGFOX Signs With TDF to Densify its Network in France
TOULOUSE and MONTROUGE, France, May 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
- The low throughput network operator speeds up the deployment pace of its French network
SIGFOX, the first operator of a cellular network fully dedicated to machine-to-machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) communications announces the signing of a contract with TDF, continental Europe's biggest owner of broadcast and telecoms masts.
This country wide deal covers the deployment, hosting, and maintenance of a part of the SIGFOX network in France. The large-scale project is already under way, showing the swift pace with which SIGFOX is expanding its network coverage.
A large number and variety of TDF towers will participate in enabling SIGFOX to offer its customers a robust and reliable service across the whole country. The aim is to maximise SIGFOX's radio coverage at every tower, in order to significantly reduce the network's economic and environmental footprint.
Much more than a new network deployment, this project constitutes the operational launch of an innovative telecommunications technology that meets the many needs of individual and business users.
"By accompanying SIGFOX's growth, TDF bolsters its positioning in a rapidly growing telecoms market. This is an ambitious project, for which TDF provides SIGFOX with its solid expertise in radio engineering, deployment, operation, and maintenance of telecoms infrastructures. By trusting us, SIGFOX is looking ahead to a future populated by communicating objects which will transform and ease our lives" says Christine Landrevot, Head of TDF's Telecoms and Services business unit.
According to Ludovic Le Moan, SIGFOX Chief Executive Officer, "the large number of TDF sites enables us to increase our coverage and increase the quality of service that SIGFOX delivers to its customers. Our low-throughput communications cellular network is now ready to support billions of objects. The new dimension added by the use of TDF's infrastructure for SIGFOX's disruptive technology, rings the bell of a new era: the Internet of Things.".
