ORLANDO, Fla., June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Siemens Energy has received an order to supply power island equipment for the Lake Side 2 combined cycle power plant in Utah. The EPC contractor for the facility will be CH2M HILL Engineers Inc., a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, located in Denver, Colorado. PacifiCorp, a leading energy utility in the western U.S., will be the owner and operator of the Lake Side 2 project when the plant begins commercial operation. PacifiCorp operates as Rocky Mountain Power in Utah. Commercial operation of the plant is expected in the spring of 2014.

The Siemens scope of supply will encompass the power island, including two SGT6-5000F gas turbines, one SST6-5000 steam turbine installed in a combined cycle configuration, and two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG). Siemens also entered into a long-term service agreement for the Siemens supplied turbines and generators and will provide construction and commissioning support to the project.
Located about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City, in Vineyard, Utah, Lake Side 2 is being constructed adjacent to PacifiCorp's existing Lake Side project. The Lake Side 2 combined cycle plant will have an expected annual average rating of 637 megawatts (MW) , which is equivalent to the needs of approximately 350,000 typical homes.
