Siemens Enterprise Communications Improves Team Productivity with Seamless Mobility
Best of Enterprise Connect Finalist OpenScape Mobile enables intuitive, integrated voice and video communication on a wide range of devices, including the iPad
ORLANDO, Fla., March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- EnterpriseConnect -- As more enterprises embrace the BYOD trend and as users increasingly demand full communication functionality on the go, Siemens Enterprise Communications now delivers a solution to transform how employees communicate by seamlessly integrating mobility into collaboration applications and communications tools. Rather than viewing mobility as an add-on feature, Siemens Enterprise Communications' OpenScape Mobile brings together the VoIP, video and comprehensive UC capabilities of OpenScape into a single next generation user experience, all on an employee's chosen device.
The newly released version of OpenScape Mobile, named a finalist for the Best of Enterprise Connect Award, intuitively places a wide range of sophisticated unified communications capabilities at the users' fingertips, including presence, conferencing, directory access, one number service, VoIP, video and our award-winning Call Swipe capability. It provides a consistent user experience across a range of smartphones and tablets, making it easy for users to change devices without having to learn a new interface. Plus, it is now optimized for the iPad to leverage the larger screen while providing the same unique interface. At the same time, OpenScape Mobile ensures that corporate security requirements are met, as calls are encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Real-time Transport Protocol (SRTP).
"Today's worker is an 'anywhere worker,' those who need their technology to keep up with them wherever they go and don't have the time to manage multiple interfaces," said Chris Hummel, Chief Commercial Officer for Siemens Enterprise Communications. "OpenScape Mobile enables seamless mobility, freeing employees to take their offices with them, increasing productivity, speeding business processes, and reducing costs."
OpenScape Mobile includes Call Swipe, a unique, easy-to-use, touch-screen user interface that moves audio and video calls to the preferred device with just a simple swipe of a finger across the touch screen. Call Swipe seamlessly transfers a call from a mobile device to any nearby direct-dial desktop phone – and vice-versa – to greatly improve mobile productivity and vital business communications. It also enables users to move an audio or video call from the cellular network to a local WLAN using SIP-based VoIP to avoid cellular usage and roaming fees.
Key features of the latest release of OpenScape Mobile include:
- Intuitive user experience providing integrated VoIP, UC and video functionality on a single client app offered on both Android and iOS devices
- Empowers mobile users to benefit from visual collaboration with fully integrated point-to-point high definition H.264 video capabilities
- Supports the latest workplace trends of BYOD and consumerization by utilizing expanded tablet capabilities on Apple iPad
- Enables OpenScape Voice users to make calls from the Mobile client over 3G, using their one-number service instead of their mobile cellular number
- Reduces cellular network costs by utilizing VoIP and video with corporate WLAN or Wi-Fi hotspot
