Siemens Appoints Overhage as New Chief Medical Informatics Officer

Pioneering executive at one of the nation's largest health information exchanges will help Siemens advance the product roadmap and drive customer input on product development.

MALVERN, Pa., Feb. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Siemens (NYSE: SI) announces the appointment of J. Marc Overhage, MD, PhD, as Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO), of the Health Services (HS) Business Unit. One of the architects of the Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE), Marc recently served as the President and CEO of this not-for-profit organization. In his role at Siemens, Marc will be responsible for clinical informatics activities and guiding long-term product strategies. His appointment begins on March 28, 2011.

Most recently, he served as the Director of Medical Informatics at Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis, and is the Sam Regenstrief Professor of Medicine and Medical Informatics at the Indiana School of Medicine. He also is an active member of National Quality Forum (NQF), the HIT Standards Committee at the Department of Health and Human Services, and a board member of the Indiana Health Informatics Corporation.
