Sideways Introduces the Next Chapter in Storytelling, Launches Digital Publishing Platform on iPad, Touch and iPhone
Company debuts at the BookExpo America with suite of products for mobile devices.
NEW YORK, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Sideways, a software company that transforms publications into immersive experiences on the iPad, iPhone and Touch, launched its debut suite of products at the BookExpo America Conference (BEA). Taking advantage of the multi-media, multi-touch and multi-user functionality of the latest mobile devices, Sideways develops innovative applications to bring the written word to life.
"The Sideways platform allows authors and those hungry for a medium as rich as their vision to make their work even more engrossing. Leveraging the uniquely intimate, tactile quality of the iPad and other mobile devices, we transform multi-media storytelling into an experience unlike anything seen before," said Charles Stack, founder of Sideways. "Our goal is to give both publishers and authors the opportunity to make good stories even better while delivering to readers everything they already cherish about books and more."
"Our team has a deep love of books and is passionate about bringing them to this new medium. Rather than jettison all that we enjoy about reading, we focus on deepening the experience," said Eliza Wing, president and COO of Sideways.
Projects launching at the BEA include a multi-media presentation of grilling techniques by renowned cooking author, Michael Ruhlman; a project on The Doors in New York City by music writer and chief curator of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, James Henke; an anigraphic™ version of Hilaire Belloc's Cautionary Tales for Children; an iPhone camera guide by David Busch, author of the Camera Companion; as well as author apps for Ruhlman and celebrated plastic surgeon and author of The Beauty Quotient Formula, Dr. Robert M. Tornambe.
Sideways will collaborate with publishers in the following market segments:
- How-to
- Travel
