SICO Incorporated® prevails in patent lawsuit
MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SICO Incorporated® www.sicoinc.com, the leading worldwide manufacturer of mobile folding products, announced today that it has conclusively prevailed in the patent lawsuit brought against it by competitor AmTab Manufacturing Corporation. A Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois recently ruled that SICO's products did not infringe AmTab's patent and dismissed the lawsuit. AmTab did not appeal.

At issue was AmTab's patent No. 7,758,113 which relates to seat post and support mount design for folding cafeteria tables. AmTab had alleged that 4 specific SICO® table models: The Undergraduate table; The Graduate table; The Communicator table; and the TC-65 table infringed its patent because each utilized non-circular cylindrical connectors. The Court disagreed, finding that the SICO® products did not utilize the same or similar design features set forth in AmTab's patent.

AmTab filed its lawsuit in April, 2011. SICO® prevailed at each opportunity for interim rulings by the district judge, and finally won Summary Judgment and dismissal of the suit in December, 2012. The order became final in December, 2012.
