SHRM Conference Showcases Innovative Solutions for What's Next in HR
More than 12,000 HR Professionals Expected at 63rd Annual Conference in Las Vegas
ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The largest number ever of HR practitioners and sessions on strategic business management and health care will be featured at the Society for Human Resource Management's 63rd Annual Conference and Exposition June 26-29 in Las Vegas.
With a focus on helping HR leaders and practitioners prepare for what's next in their profession, the conference will include five keynote speakers and more than 200 concurrent sessions about employment law, talent management, international HR and leadership development. The exposition hall will be filled with more than 1,000 sponsored booths with HR information, products and services. New this year is a health and wellness pavilion.
More than 12,000 professionals from across the United States and abroad are expected at the conference being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. About one-half of the attendees are certified HR professionals, making SHRM's annual conference unmatched in its ability to attract the experienced and knowledgeable in the field.
Entrepreneurs Sir Richard Branson, president of the Virgin Group; Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com; and Arianna Huffington, co-founder of The Huffington Post, will appear as keynote speakers. Emmy-award-winning actor Michael J. Fox also will headline the conference, and AARP's CEO Barry Rand will speak about the intergenerational workforce.
For the first time, the conference will include a Practitioner Exchange in which executives share how HR programs have influenced their workplaces and contributed to business success. Companies known for innovation — from John Deere and Hewlett-Packard to New Belgium Brewery and Eileen Fisher — will be represented.
A special education session on the morning of June 26 will offer attendees strategies for hiring military veterans and their spouses along with information about how employers can support National Guard and Reserve employees.
