MIDLAND, Mich., Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Everyone's favorite ogre comes to life when Center Stage Theatre presents "Shrek The Musical" September 20, 26 and 27 at 7 p.m. and September 21 and 28 at 3 p.m. in the Auditorium of Midland Center for the Arts, 1801 W. St. Andrews Rd., Midland. "Shrek The Musical" is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!
"I am so proud to be presenting 'Shrek The Musical' for our Great Lakes Bay Region audience," says director Bill Anderson, Jr. "This energetic, heartwarming and hilarious show features unbelievable talent from around the region, both onstage and behind the scenes."
Due to the complicated nature of many of the costumes, Center Stage Theatre has rented selected character costumes for this production. In response, its scenery department was challenged to create a set that could be rented out in the future to other theatre companies. In response, the theatre company expanded its summer internship program to accomplish the task.
The out-of-town interns were billeted in private residences around the community, allowing the college students to gain a greater understanding and appreciation for Midland, and host families to get to know future theatre leaders.
"We had a great group of summer college interns - Becky Provost in Props, Jake Kapusta in Carpentry, and Jen Dinsky in Scenic Design - who brought a youthful energy and a fresh creative perspective," remarks production manager Kristen O'Connor. "Each had a unique background of skills, and we worked as a team throughout much of the design process, from character-themed props to puppet mechanics to creating the illustration style of our set"
Tickets start at $28 for adults and $18 for students.
