The four-hour, invitation-only event took place Thursday, 6 January, at the Wynn Hotel during the Consumer Electronics Show.
One hour before the press event, ShowStoppers produced the IFA 2011 preview press conference, to give journalists a glimpse of what comes next in consumer electronics and home appliances. ShowStoppers partners with Messe Berlin and gfu to produce the official press event at IFA, the global tradeshow for consumer electronics and home appliances that takes place each September in Berlin.
ShowStoppers @ CES was powered by all-electric concept vehicles from General Motors and off-roaders from Polaris. Airbiquity turned over a new all-electric Nissan Leaf to demo connected vehicle services. Zatz Not Funny declared Sphero from Orbotix – a toy ball driven by smart phone or tablet computer – "the coolest roly poly gizmo of CES." Ocosmos introduced a tablet for gamers. Kno demonstrated dual-screen tablets for students and educators. enTourage and Pocketbook-USA introduced eReaders. Pogoplug and Vidyo announced cloud-powered TV services. Rapper T-Pain was in the house to introduce the T-Pain mic from JAKKS Pacific. RealNetworks won a CNET "best of show" award for Unifi, which manages user photos, music and videos in one place.
