ShowStoppers® schedules second playdate with the pixel pros at Sandbox Summit
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ShowStoppers® is scheduling a second playdate with new technologies for educators, researchers, game and toy designers, developers of educational software, app developers, pioneers in media and entertainment technology, and journalists.
The global leader in press and business events in the United States, Europe and Asia today announced an agreement to again produce a new product showcase where play and technology meet -- at the annual Sandbox Summit @ MIT.
For the second year in a row, ShowStoppers @ Sandbox Summit will organize hands-on product introductions, previews and demonstrations for attendees registered for the two-day conference, which runs 15-16 April 2013 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. ShowStoppers is set for the evening of Monday, 15 April.
This year's Sandbox Summit, "Pixel the Possibilities," explores how imagination is nurtured in the digital age. The roster of media, education, and innovation experts include, among others, Evan and Gregg Spiridellis, cofounders of JibJab; Alan Schulman, chief creative officer of SapientNitro; Geoff Nelson, cofounder of Cricket Moon Media; Scot Osterweil, creative director, MIT Education Arcade; David Sherwin, principal designer, frog design; and Kurt Squire, director of the Games, Learning & Society Initiative.
"From a simple line drawing to conceptualizing in the fourth dimension, the way content is envisioned, presented, and received affects the way kids play, learn, and communicate. Our focus this year is to look at the best ways to actively engage kids, to promote playful learning using 21st century tools," said Wendy Smolen, cofounder of Sandbox Summit.
"Kids may not come with instructions, but they are loaded with imagination. As educators, product developers and parents, it is our job to harness all the resources available to keep imagination at the forefront of play and learning," said Claire Green, cofounder of Sandbox Summit.
"Sandbox Summit is a unique conversation about technology and play, about how the next generation of players can become active innovators, rather than passive users of technology. The hands-on product showcase at ShowStoppers triggers this conversation," said Steve Leon, partner, ShowStoppers.
