Shotfarm Introduces Switches to Automate Product Information Delivery
Major company launch enables retailers to receive formatted, converted, and normalized product feeds directly from their suppliers with just a few clicks
CHICAGO, June 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Shotfarm, the leading product content network for the management and distribution of product information, today launches Switches, a new product which automates the conversion, normalization, and delivery of product information and assets between manufacturers and retailers.
The release of Switches is the company's largest initiative since the launch of its popular Product Content Network in 2010. Available today, the product provides retailers a free tool to configure and publish their unique product data, image, and delivery preferences which automates the conversion process and dramatically decreases both their and their partners' labor costs and time to market.
"A major source of pain for manufacturers is tailoring their product information and assets to each retailer's unique format, system, and delivery request," said Mike Lapchick, CEO of Shotfarm. "A Switch can reduce a manufacturer's data distribution workload by around 92 percent and provide near real-time delivery to retailers who are used to waiting weeks or months for this information. Switches can be modified at any time requiring little-to-no action from manufacturers freeing them up even further to invest in high quality datasets that ultimately benefit the consumer. And since they don't cost anything for the retailer, there's really no reason not to create one. They just make a ton of sense."
Once a Switch is configured by the retailer, it's published to Shotfarm's Switch Marketplace where manufacturers will be able to find and purchase their partners' Switches for around $30 and begin to automate the conversion, formatting, normalization, and delivery of product information and assets.
Taking its lead from Apple's App Store, the company's Switch Marketplace will launch June 15th, 2015 with Switches from Google Shopping, Walmart, Kroger, InRiver, Enterworks, and over 6,000 additional retailers, distributors, PIM providers, and data aggregators. Once installed, manufacturers run a simple, patent-pending field-mapping wizard and then turn on their Switch making the solution affordable and scalable to manufacturers of any size.
"As opposed to some companies we have dealt with that are 'all hat, no cattle,' getting a feed working on Shotfarm in three minutes was pretty exciting," said Locally.com President Mike Massey. "It couldn't be any easier to use."
