Shops At Stonefield Receives U.S. Design & Development Award
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Jan. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- EDENS is proud to announce that Shops at Stonefield, one of their premier shopping centers, received a 2015 U.S. Design & Development commendation from the International Council of Shopping Centers. The yearly awards honor projects at the forefront of design and development trends around the country.
The Shops at Stonefield was acknowledged in the New Developments category. According to ICSC's announcement of winners, "The center's contemporary design is both innovative and familiar, while intimate gathering places provide space for neighbors to sit and reconnect."
EDENS worked with the surrounding Albemarle County on this development. It's the first in the area's Neighborhood Model program, which focuses on developments and redevelopments that are pedestrian friendly, promote road connections, encourage mixed use, and encourage better sculpting of the terrain when the terrain is graded.
The winners of the U.S. awards go on to compete in ICSC's Global Design and Development Awards competition, and are considered examples to the industry.
