Shop Local, Shop Green at the 2011 San Francisco Flower & Garden Show!
Annual Festival Expands its Appeal with Celebrity Chefs and Exciting Marketplace
SAN FRANCISCO, March 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nothing says Spring like the San Francisco Flower & Garden Show (www.sfgardenshow.com) Wednesday, March 23 through Sunday, March 27 at the San Mateo Event Center. Now entering its 26th year with a bigger, better and greener approach; twenty installations from top designers, seminars led by experts such as HGTV personality Gary Gragg, celebrity chef cooking demos including Chez Panisse's Alice Waters and Sunset Magazine's Margo True all invite attendees to "Get Your Green On". Single day tickets are $20, Multi day passes $25 and children under 16 are free.
While experienced gardeners will be excited by displays on flower arranging, design trends, water conservation, and cutting edge ideas - the festival is equally accessible to anyone seeking a unique day outing. Popular sections include creations by the California Garden Clubs and the Bonsai Society of San Francisco, plus new and rare plants from the Western Horticultural Society. A special Children's Garden called Sproutopia with fun-filled, hands-on learning opportunities, and spectacular art installations are among the draws that make this an exceptional Northern California travel destination.
"The Flower & Garden Show is a celebration of 'Life in the California Garden' and how we connect to our environment," explained Producer Kay Estey. "Because of the growing interest in the Garden to Table movement, this year we're expanding our edible garden display, offering wine tasting from several hot Livermore Valley vineyards, and featuring a Farmer's Market where attendees can purchase a wonderful array of local produce and fresh flowers."
Sure to appeal to gardeners, home design fans, and early Mother's Day shoppers will be a Marketplace with over 200 vendors featuring a wide array of merchandise from Japanese maples and exotic orchids to vintage posters and contemporary fountain sculptures. Furniture, baskets, books, clothing, sunrooms, hot tub spas, jewelry, and beauty products join seeds, irrigation systems, and a variety of sustainable green products for a shopping experience with something for everyone.
The San Francisco Flower & Garden Show is held at 1346 Saratoga Drive in San Mateo, midway between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Doors open at 10am daily. For Early Bird Pricing, Directions and a Daily Calendar visit www.sfgardenshow.com or call 925-605-2923.
