Shop For a Cause This October With OpenSky
Nancy O'Dell, Holly Robinson Peete, Patricia Velasquez, Donna D'Cruz and Others Share Products They Love to Support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month
NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenSky (www.opensky.com) — the site that allows members to design their ideal shopping experience curated by the world's best people in food, style, health and design — today announced that they will be supporting National Breast Cancer Awareness Month through a variety of initiatives, beginning this Friday, October 7.
The company has joined forces with Cancer Schmancer, a non-profit organization founded by actress and cancer survivor Fran Drescher, that is dedicated to saving women's lives through prevention and early detection of cancer. For each product purchased on OpenSky between Friday, October 7 and Sunday, October 9, the company will make a $5 donation to the organization — making it easy for shoppers to show their support for the cause.
"OpenSky has some of the best people recommending their favorite things to shoppers on the site," said Fran Drescher. "At Cancer Schmancer, we are so honored and excited about this partnership with OpenSky as we continue to educate and empower women to take control of their bodies and live healthier lives. Shopping for a cause – who wouldn't want to shop here!"
In addition to OpenSky's over-arching support of Cancer Schmancer, the site will feature several products chosen by OpenSky curators that benefit a variety of other cancer organizations including Pink Bright, Breast Cancer Research Fund, Breast Cancer Charities of America, American Cancer Society, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, FORCE, National Breast Cancer Foundation and Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
"As a company and a community, we want to do as much as we can to support the many great organizations that help people everywhere fight the fight against breast cancer," said John Caplan, founder and CEO of OpenSky.
In addition to OpenSky's $5 donation for each item sold, curators have selected products that benefit other cancer charities as well, including:
