Shoney's® Set For 6th Annual Shoney's 5K Family Fun Run & Walk on June 21st at LP Field
A Festival of Family Fun on Tap at 6th Annual Event;
All Race Proceeds Benefit Metropolitan Nashville Police Department
NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As America's favorite restaurant since 1947, Shoney's has always been known for family, food and fun. On Saturday June 21 at LP Field all of those things will come together at the 6th Annual Shoney's 5K Family Fun Run & Walk.
The day will start with a race, with all proceeds benefiting the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. And in what has become a Nashville family tradition, the event will feature a FREE festival with something for the entire family after the race.
"This great family event gets better every year and this year we are looking forward to hosting and entertaining the entire Nashville community," said Shoney's CEO and Chairman David Davoudpour, who personally matches all money raised through race registrations dollar for dollar. "We invite you to come for the run and stay for all of the fun. There is simply no better way to spend your Saturday than with us."
The 5K run will begin at 8 am followed by the kids fun run & walk (Kids 10 and under run for FREE!) and awards ceremony. After the run, there will be a fun festival with FREE activities for runners, families and children including live music, prizes, face painting, balloon artists, an appearance by the iconic Shoney Bear and of course the Shoney's Breakfast Buffet served on site in LP Field's Lot T, all courtesy of Shoney's.
Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson says a host of the MNPD's finest will be on hand to showcase a variety of police vehicles, resources and equipment, including SWAT gear, SWAT armored vehicle, a police helicopter, police horses, bomb robot, police car, police motorcycles, command vehicle and much more.
"This is a unique opportunity for Nashvillians to meet and run or walk through the downtown with police officers, both veterans and trainees presently in the academy," Chief Anderson. "We are deeply grateful to David Davoudpour for his support of the police department and thank Shoney's for putting on this great annual event. We know this will be a special day for all and we look forward to a great turnout."
All proceeds from the Family Fun Run & Walk benefit the Nashville Police Support Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. The fund provides tuition assistance to police officers seeking social-science related college degrees. More than $100,000 has been raised by Shoney's since the race's inception five years ago.
