Boston is one of the largest markets for charter bus travel, with over 200 colleges and universities in the metro area. Students regularly need a way to travel home for holidays and between semesters. We've spoken to students at Boston University, Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern (to name a few) and have seen strong demand for a better travel experience.
"I use apps that make it easy to travel within Boston, but don't understand why it's not easier to move between cities," said Northeastern senior Adam. "I love what Shofur is offering with their app. I started taking the train even though it was more expensive, but look forward to taking the bus again."
The Shofur mobile app and website will provide features new to the bus industry. Riders will be able to select their seats, view the location of their bus in real-time, and rate their travel experience. College students are a key demographic for Shofur because they are first adopters of new technology.
"I've decided to take Shofur back home to New York for the holidays," said James, a sophomore at Boston University. "The service of other bus companies is terrible. I'm always stuck waiting on a street corner in the city, never knowing when or even if my bus is arriving. Shofur makes my trip more transparent and much easier."
