CHICAGO, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Shiftgig, the mobile technology platform that connects businesses with high-quality, vetted hourly workers, today announced Wade Burgess will join the company as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 25. Current CEO Eddie Lou will remain with Shiftgig in the new role of Executive Chairman. This leadership change will allow the company to build on its strong brand reputation, increase its pace of technology innovation and best position itself for the next phase of growth.
"For nearly a decade I've had the opportunity to work toward LinkedIn's vision, creating economic opportunity for millions of professionals," said Burgess. "Shiftgig allows me to extend this mission to a broader base of the workforce – the gig and hourly worker. The natural synergy is not only in the missions of both companies, but the focus on positively impacting businesses and changing the talent landscape. I look forward to driving real impact for this segment of the workforce."
Burgess is tasked with aligning Shiftgig's product and technology roadmap, support process, and operating practices to the needs of the enterprise today and beyond. Gig workers are expected to comprise 43 percent of the workforce by 2020.
"We set out on a very specific mission with Shiftgig: to connect millions of people with millions of shifts," said Lou. "With the gig economy's exploding growth, we feel we're closer than ever to making this a reality. Wade is the right leader at the right time – not only does he believe in our vision and mission, but he's already successfully accomplished it for a different segment of the workforce, and understands the magnitude of the opportunity we have to do something similar for the hourly worker."
Burgess' impressive experience spans nearly a decade at LinkedIn. He played a pivotal role in growing LinkedIn's sales organizations both here in the US and within Europe before becoming the Global VP of Talent Solutions, the company's largest business unit. Burgess was also Chairman of the inaugural board of the LinkedIn for Good Foundation.
"Wade has a strong track record as a leader and I look forward to seeing him take Shiftgig to new heights," said Sam Yagan, CEO of ShopRunner, Inc. and Director of Shiftgig. "Eddie has led Shiftgig far beyond his initial vision and the company has never had a brighter future than it has today."
