Sherwood Equities Unveils Manhattan's First-Ever Ground-Up Sales Gallery For 500 West 21st Street at the High Line
Sales of 32 New Luxury Residences in West Chelsea Are Underway
NEW YORK, March 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Developer Sherwood Equities has added a spectacular new flourish to condominium sales by opening the first-ever ground-up construction, free-standing sales gallery in Manhattan for its new boutique condominium at 500 West 21st Street, adjacent to the High Line in West Chelsea. The two-story sales gallery, located at 508 West 20th Street, is situated across the street from the development and contains 3,850 square feet of interior space, as well as an expansive 2,000-square-foot rooftop garden overlooking the High Line.
The singular space, with soaring 30-foot ceilings, currently features a full-size model kitchen and master bathroom by Mark Zeff, the interior designer for the residences, as well a large-scale graphic of the garden, which will be planted between the High Line and the residences. The 30-foot ceilings are 10 feet shy of the height of the fully mature vegetative design by Rees Roberts and Partners that, once transported and planted, will act as an extension of Piet Oudolf's masterful High Line landscaping.
"Among the many great features of 500 West 21st Street is its abundance of private outdoor space," says developer Jeffrey Katz, CEO of Sherwood Equities. He notes that two thirds of the homes have their own outdoor space, and due to the project comprising an entire blockfront, all of the residences enjoy "extraordinary light and air."
"The sales gallery, with its soaring glass entryway and remarkable ceiling heights, contains a full-scale model apartment, which creates an authentically tangible experience. Buyers can get a real sense of the size and elegance of these homes and imagine themselves living there."
Occupancy is planned for the first quarter of 2015.
Once 500 West 21st Street completes sales, Sherwood Equities will likely offer the sales gallery at 508 West 20th, which is not part of the residential offering, for lease.
"This stand-alone space would be the perfect fit for an art gallery, boutique shop or restaurant," says Mr. Katz. "It would give a business owner the opportunity to establish a unique identity along the High Line and in one of Manhattan's most popular neighborhoods."
The condominium at 500 West 21st Street is a collaboration of some of the industry's top players: world-renowned architectural designers Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), under the direction of Paul Katz, imagined the stately exterior facade. TriBeCa-based landscape architect Rees Roberts + Partners LLC crafted the outdoor garden, which will include 40 foot-high trees and layers of mature foliage, providing privacy and a visually engaging amenity for owners. Mark Zeff, president of his eponymous interior design firm, which is also located on 20th Street, has created a comfortable-industrial aesthetic for the residences and amenity spaces. Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group is the exclusive marketing and sales agent.
