Shell Supplier Diversity Introduces New Strategy To Help Suppliers Interested in Doing Business with Shell
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Supplier Diversity is introducing a new strategy and technology to create efficiencies while helping potential suppliers interested in doing business with Shell. The new Shell Diverse Supplier Pipeline Management System, which Shell developed, will make the sourcing process more transparent and easier for Shell Supplier Diversity to identify current opportunities for minority business enterprises (MBEs), women-owned business enterprises (WBEs) and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs). The system will also track the progress made by diverse businesses introduced to Shell stakeholders.
"This makes for a more efficient and effective sales process for potential suppliers," said Debra Stewart, Director for Supplier Diversity, Workforce Development and Diversity Outreach at Shell. "When we meet a supplier who may fit Shell's opportunities, the technology allows us to record basic information into our Supplier Pipeline database on the spot and send them a web link to provide additional information we need. The system allows us to route the supplier's information to the appropriate contacts within Shell or our prime suppliers and follow their progress through the procurement process with the support of automation."
"Shell recognizes that potential suppliers invest a lot of time in their business development efforts with large corporations," Debra continued. "We believe that by streamlining and simplifying things on our end, we can ultimately improve our interaction and turnaround time with potential suppliers that are a good fit for Shell."
Shell's focus on streamlining the diverse supplier sourcing process aims to Eliminate unnecessary work, and to Simplify, Standardize and Automate work processes where possible (Shell's ESSA philosophy) for efficiency and effectiveness. Ultimately, it will prove to be of value for those diverse businesses that have products, services and innovative technology that Shell is procuring or anticipates procuring.
The Shell Diverse Supplier Pipeline Management Process is being introduced at the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) annual Conference and Business Opportunity Fair in Orlando, Florida, November 2-5. This best-in-class gathering of nearly 7,000 corporate leaders, supplier diversity professionals, Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American-owned businesses and guests from around the world will be held at the Orange County Convention Center.
