Shell Lubricants to Sponsor Annual U.S. Manufacturing Day
Supports Education on Key Industry Efforts and Goals
HOUSTON, Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Shell Lubricants announced today its sponsorship and support of the second annual Manufacturing Day, which is scheduled for October 4, 2013. The event will give Americans across the country the opportunity to gain an inside look at facility operations, educate local communities about the importance of manufacturers in the future of energy and showcase the benefits these facilities afford to the communities where they reside.
"The manufacturing industry and the jobs it creates play a pivotal role in keeping America running," said Jacqueline Gates, Industrial Marketing Manager at Shell. "Any time we can help connect manufacturers with their neighbors and excite the next generation about future opportunities that exist within this industry, it excites us. Shell Lubricants is immensely proud to be a gold level sponsor and hopes that our participation in Manufacturing Day inspires others to get involved."
Manufacturing Day is hosted by manufacturers and their supporters. On October 4, participating manufacturers across the nation will host open house events to interact with local communities in order to help dispel outdated myths about the declining need for manufacturing and to share how their companies make an impact on how Americans live and work. Each open house event will be unique to the host company, featuring its day-to-day activities, which may include live demonstrations, facility tours, management Q&A sessions and even the potential for hands-on learning.
In addition to sponsorship support, Shell Lubricants will also hold a sweepstakes on Manufacturing Day to drive attendance at the local open house events. All Manufacturing Day attendees will have the chance to enter to win two grandstand ticket packages to a Cup race of their choice. To keep the excitement high while helping to raise awareness of the Manufacturing Day, the Manufacturing Day logo will be featured on the deck lid of Pennzoil driver Joey Logano's No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion during the September 15th race in Chicago, IL.
In 2012, over 240 manufacturing plants hosted events across 37 states, garnering a total of more than 7,000 attendees. With the help of Shell Lubricants, along with several other U.S. manufacturing associations, this year's Manufacturing Day has a set goal of 500 events nationwide with at least 18,000 individuals in attendance.
