Sheila Lirio Marcelo Founder, Chairwoman and CEO of Care.com Joins Boston Children's Hospital Board of Trustees
BOSTON, May 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) today announced the addition of Sheila Lirio Marcelo as a member of its Board of Trustees. As the founder, Chairwoman and CEO of Care.com, Marcelo is devoted to providing solutions for families grappling with the challenges of finding quality care and enabling caregivers to find meaningful work. Sheila founded Care.com (NYSE: CRCM) in 2006 and today, the public company is the world's largest online care destination with 24 million members in more than 20 countries. Sheila's inspiration to found Care.com came from the challenges she faced at a young age caring for two small children and ailing parents.
"Sheila will be working alongside clinicians on patient experience and alongside our executive team to develop and nurture existing young female leadership programs here at the hospital. We are thrilled to have her bring leadership, experience and advocacy to our board of trustees," said Sandra L. Fenwick, President and CEO, Boston Children's Hospital.
"It's an honor to support a world-class organization such as Boston Children's Hospital in their efforts to provide the very best care experience for families and create greater pathways for women in health. I look forward to working closely with Sandi and the Trustees and exemplary BCH team," said Ms. Marcelo.
A frequent speaker on women in technology and female entrepreneurship and leadership, Sheila received the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award, was inducted into Babson College's Academy of Distinguished Entrepreneurs, and was bestowed the Filipino Heritage Award from President Aquino of the Philippines. She is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, a Marshall Memorial Fellow, and a member of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership.
