ALTOONA, Pa., Oct. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sheetz customers can once again buy a six pack of beer in Shippensburg. On October 17, 2014, the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas upheld the PA Liquor Control Board's decision to grant Sheetz the license at the Shippensburg store. The license was reissued on Friday morning and the Shippensburg store will once again be able to sell beer to Sheetz customers.
"This is very exciting for us and our customers," said Ryan Sheetz, director of brand development. "Our customers have told us, loud and clear, they want the right to buy beer at convenience stores in Pennsylvania, and we are committed to doing so responsibly and successfully," Sheetz said.
The Civic Club of Shippensburg filed an appeal with the Court of Common Pleas on August 6, 2014, which temporarily halted Sheetz ability to sell beer at the Shippensburg store.
"The appeal was disappointing for us, and more importantly, our customers who drive every decision we make. We currently sell beer in the five other states in which we operate, and our track record in those states speaks for itself," Sheetz said.
The Shippensburg location is the second Sheetz location in the state of Pennsylvania to operate with an approved liquor license to sell beer. The company first started selling beer at its Altoona, Pa., location on 17th Street back in 2010.
Sheetz employees at these locations go through hours of specialized training programs to ensure that this product is sold the right way.
"We are encouraged that the courts recognized we were in compliance with law," says Sheetz, "We are happy to afford this opportunity to our customers once again."
