Thomas is a manager at the Sheetz convenience store at North Lima, and her work experience is one reason Sheetz, Inc. has once again been named one of the Best Employers in Ohio. Sheetz ranked #4 in the 2010 survey.
"I like the working conditions and the way Sheetz helps us serve our customers," added Rieko Takara, a sales associate in Calcutta, Ohio. "The benefits are great too. It's just a great place to work."
Sheetz is one of only ten large Ohio companies to receive the award. Winners were chosen by the Best Companies Group through a two-part process of evaluation. 25 percent of a company's score was based on workplace policies, philosophy, systems and demographics, while 75 percent consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the final rankings. Sheetz has received this honor for the fourth time in the past five years. Sheetz also took a spot on a similar list in North Carolina and has made Pennsylvania's list for the eighth year in a row.
"This is a tremendous honor," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO. "It is extra special because the award reflects what our employees think of this company. It is gratifying to know our employee family is as happy with us as we are with them."
The Best Employers in Ohio survey and award program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the state of Ohio, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. Sheetz was evaluated for its workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics, and employees were questioned on their experiences. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration, survey and analysis process and determined the final rankings.
As for Sheetz employees Thomas and Takara, Sheetz is more than just a great place to work. "I enjoy the hours and the working conditions. It's like my second home and my second family," said Thomas. "Sheetz gives me the tools I need to succeed. I know that if I need help with a problem, all I have to do is ask," added Takara.
