Shawna Morris Joins Phoenix House California As Executive Director
LOS ANGELES, May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Phoenix House California, the state's leading nonprofit substance abuse services organization, announced today that Shawna R. Morris, MPA, FACHE, has joined the organization as senior vice president and executive director. She will be responsible for all programs and services in California, including the operations of Phoenix Houses of Los Angeles, Phoenix House Orange County, and Phoenix House San Diego.

A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Morris comes to Phoenix House with experience spanning over 26 years and impressive credentials in healthcare management.
Most recently, she served as vice president of Mental Health Services at Burrell Behavioral Health in Missouri where she enhanced addiction treatment services and expanded wraparound services for adults as well as eating disorder services and collaborations with primary care providers. From 1997 to 2014, she held a variety of positions at the Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas, ranging from director of marketing and business development to chief operating officer. In her role as COO, Morris was accountable for creating and executing the Menninger Clinic's strategic plan and building successful internal and external business relationships. She earlier served in high-level management positions at ValueMark Healthcare Systems, Inc. and Human Affairs International, Inc.
Her focus on servant leadership has created better outcomes in-patient, staff and community partner support, as well as improvements in the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care.
Morris graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master of Public Administration in 2002 and received a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Psychology from Grace College.
