Sharp® Awarded ENERGY STAR® 2013 Partner Of The Year Award
With 154 ENERGY STAR® Qualified Models Across Seven Product Lines, Sharp Celebrates 2012 Successes and Gears Up with an Even Stronger 2013 Portfolio
MAHWAH, N.J., March 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharp Electronics has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's highly coveted 2013 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award. Sharp's exemplary commitment and dedication to energy efficiency and the ENERGY STAR® program was demonstrated through its more than 154 ENERGY STAR qualified models across seven product lines in 2012. Sharp was also commended for having the biggest share of large screen televisions recognized as ENERGY STAR's Most Efficient 2012.
"It's a testament to Sharp's engineering capabilities and dedication to energy efficiency that even as our TVs get larger, energy consumption is decreasing," said John Herrington, President of Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation. "Our commitment to the ENERGY STAR program remains a priority, and we proudly offer consumers the energy saving benefits they deserve without sacrificing size or functionality."
At the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in January, Sharp unveiled 21 60" plus class TV models as part of its new line of AQUOS LED TVs, with more models that feature Quattron technology and more choices in the fast growing 60", 70" and 80" screen classes. Most of the new LED TV portfolio is ENERGY STAR® 6.0 qualified. In addition, the Optical Picture (OPC) feature included on every Sharp AQUOS LED TV helps save power by using a sensor on the front of the TV to detect ambient room light, and automatically adjusts TV brightness for the best picture. In addition to its energy efficient large screen televisions, Sharp offers ENERGY STAR qualified audio and video products, Plasmacluster® air purifiers, microwave ovens, air conditioners and MFPs.
"Through their commitment to producing quality energy-efficient ENERGY STAR products, Sharp has demonstrated their commitment to saving consumers money and protecting our environment," said Bob Perciasepe, Acting Administrator, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. "Sharp is recognized today for this outstanding effort that has helped protect the climate for all Americans."
