Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan Joins Lattice Engines' Board of Directors
SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lattice Engines, the leader in B2B sales intelligence software, today announced that Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan, most recently Executive Vice President Marketing for Aster Data, was appointed to Lattice Engines' board of directors. A seasoned marketer and strategist at Aster Data, Opsware, Netscape and Kiva Software, Ms. Shahani-Mulligan brings to bear a track record of creating new market categories and building businesses across several new multi-billion dollar markets.
Shahani-Mulligan joins the board following the recent completion of Lattice Engines' Series B funding round with Sequoia Capital.

At Aster Data, Shahani-Mulligan ran all marketing functions and product strategy including outbound marketing, inbound marketing, sales enablement, demand generation and inside sales. Her marketing strategy included shaping the market for big data and creating a new market category for big data analytics. Shahani-Mulligan was the first business executive to join the Aster Data founding team and led the company's product strategy and marketing resulting in Aster Data's leadership position in the 'Big Data' market. Aster Data was acquired by Teradata in April 2011.
Prior to Aster Data, Shahani-Mulligan was Chief Marketing Officer of the largest business unit (BTO) within HP Software responsible for marketing a $3+ billion software products portfolio spanning all major aspects of IT management. Her responsibilities at Hewlett-Packard included outbound marketing including market positioning, solutions marketing, partner marketing, global sales enablement and directing all strategic solutions marketing.
Before joining HP, Shahani-Mulligan served as Executive Vice President of Marketing at Opsware Inc., a publicly traded company and leader in the Data Center Automation market. She joined Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz to re-position Loudcloud into a software company and helped form Opsware in 2002. At Opsware, Shahani-Mulligan was responsible for all marketing functions and managed Investor Relations to position the company and Opsware's growth strategy with investors. The strategic execution included creation of the Data Center Automation market category which was instrumental in the growth of the company from a start-up stage to the eventual acquisition by HP for $1.65 billion in September 2007.
Prior to Opsware, Shahani-Mulligan also steered Kiva Software from its early days and shaped the Application Server market. Kiva Software was acquired by Netscape. Shahani-Mulligan also led marketing and product strategy at Netscape, AOL and Totality. She received her Masters in management from the Kellogg Graduate School and her BA in business and economics and BS in computer science from Northwestern University.
