Shareablee Social Scorecard Reveals Top 25 U.S. Social Brands in 2015
Fox News Tops Facebook; Bleacher Report Leads Twitter Social Video Sees 111 Percent Growth
NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading social media benchmarking and predictive analytics firm, Shareablee Inc., released the Top 25 Social U.S. Brands in 2015. The ranking reflects a growth of 35 percent in social engagement compared to 2014, boosted by a 73 percent increase in social video posts which drove a 111 percent growth in social video actions across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. U.S. brands captured a total of 79.7 billion social actions with Instagram leading in engagement (34.6 billion on Facebook, 3.4 billion on Twitter, 40.8 billion on Instagram, 878.1 million on YouTube excluding views).
National Geographic dominates the Top 25 ranking with 1.6 billion total actions (likes, comments, shares, retweets, favorites, dislikes) across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, also ranking #1 on Instagram with 1.5 billion actions. Fox News ranked #1 on Facebook with 228 million total actions and Bleacher Report is the leading U.S. brand on Twitter with 20.6 million engaged actions. BuzzFeed Food saw the largest growth of any brand in the Top 25 compared to 2014 (2,094 percent) largely driven by Facebook. NBA captured the most social video actions across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, at 291.2 million.

iv Percent of Engagement from video metric is the percentage of total actions that were brought in by video posts and tweets across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The top five performing categories ranked by social media actions across all platforms are:
- Entertainment (35.3 billion)
- Media (25.2 billion)
- Sports (9.1 billion)
- Retail (5.2 billion)
- Consumer Packaged Goods (1.5 billion)
Other notable findings include:
- The three fastest growing industries on social in 2015 were Education (102 percent), Business Services (82 percent), and Automotive (55 percent).
- In 2015, U.S. brands saw a 27 percent growth in social amplification (sum of shares and retweets) compared to 2014, with shares of content representing 5.2 billion actions.
- On Facebook, U.S. brands saw Facebook impressions grow 40 percent in 2015 compared to 2014, led by the Media category with over 2.1 trillion Facebook impressions.
