Shareablee Ranks Top Ten TV Networks in January 2016
TV Network engagement grows 19 percent; OWN sees largest growth in January
NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Shareablee Inc., the leading social media benchmarking and audience analysis firm that partners with TV and cable networks CBS, NBC, ESPN, Univision, FOX News and CNN, among others, today released a January ranking of the most socially engaged TV Networks in the U.S. The ranking, which includes all television shows and the main network brand accounts under their respective networks, reflects a total of 684 million social actions across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and YouTube (excluding views). Engagement for TV networks grew 19 percent compared to December 2015, due to a 29 percent increase on Instagram, 23 percent increase on Twitter and 14 percent increase on Facebook.
ESPN ranked number one on Facebook with 35.5 million actions, Twitter with 13.1 million actions, and Instagram with 104.5 million actions. ESPN also captured the most social amplification (shares and retweets) of any TV network with nearly 8 million shares and retweets on Facebook and Twitter. NBC ranked number one on YouTube with 2.3 million actions excluding views, and MTV ranked number one on Tumblr. Fox News topped the news category with 30.4 million actions and also captured over 5.5 billion Facebook impressions, the most of any TV network during the month of January. OWN saw the largest growth at 302 percent, driven by a 26 percent increase in Facebook posts resulting in a 433 percent growth in Facebook actions, including a 463 percent growth in shares.

- The Top Five Networks on Twitter: ESPN (13.1 million actions), MTV (4 million actions), NBC (3.3 million actions), ABC (3 million actions), Freeform (2.4 million actions)
- The Top Five Networks on Instagram: ESPN (104.5 million actions), Freeform (36.3 million actions), E! (18.3 million actions), MTV (18.2 million actions), NBC (7.2 million actions)
- The Top Five Networks on YouTube (excluding views): NBC (2.3 million actions), CBS (2.1 million actions), TBS (780 thousand actions), ABC (612 thousand actions), Spike (422 thousand actions)
- Actions on video content for TV Networks' grew 42 percent in January compared to December, and represents 17 percent of the total social actions captured by TV Networks across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram in January.
