Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance Soundtrack From Walt Disney Records Features New Tunes for Movin' and Groovin', Including Hot Tracks From "Shake It Up" Stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya
DEBUT DIGITAL AUDIO SINGLE "UP, UP AND AWAY," BY HIT TEEN GIRL GROUP, BLUSH
BURBANK, Calif., March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- They've been shaking up Chicago – and the world -- for nearly two seasons. Now, the talented stars of the Disney Channel Original Series "Shake It Up" are back with "Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance," a new album of smokin' hot songs culled from the show. Featuring performances by "Shake It Up" stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya, along with other cast members and rising performers, the 14-track album arrives at stores and e-retailers on March 20.
The premiere single, "Up, Up and Away" by Blush had its digital release on Feb. 14, and will be followed by three more tracks, Zendaya's "Something to Dance For," Bella Thorne's "TTYLXOX," and "Something to Dance For/TTYLXOX Mash-Up," on March 6.
A video of "Something to Dance For/TTYLXOX Mash-Up," directed by Sanaa Hamri (Nikki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Prince, Joss Stone), premiered March 9 on Disney Channel.
"Up, Up and Away" is the latest from Blush, a group of five teen girls from the Philippines, India, China, Japan and South Korea. With their hit single "Dance On" reaching #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart, Blush became the first Asian group to have its first two singles hit top three on a major U.S. chart. Blush member Alisha says, "'Up, Up and Away is one of our favorite songs, and we're thrilled with the reaction it's getting when we perform it. We're grateful to work with Disney and a great show like 'Shake It Up.'"
Now in its second season, "Shake It Up" is ranked TV's No. 1 series among kids age 6-11 and tweens. The show chronicles the adventures of best friends CeCe (Bella Thorne) and Rocky (Zendaya), whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realized when they land roles as background dancers on the most popular teen dance show, "Shake It Up, Chicago!"
Songs included on Shake It Up: Live 2 Dance are:
"Whodunit" - Performed by rising Disney teen stars Adam Hicks ("Lemonade Mouth") and Coco Jones (Radio Disney's "N.B.T."), this big-bass dance track gets the party started.
"TTYLXOX" - "Shake It Up" star Bella Thorne, who plays CeCe Jones on the show, turns in this clever hip-hop-flavored tune, but there's no abbreviating the fun.
"Something To Dance For" - "Shake It Up's" Zendaya sings this upbeat ballad about believing in yourself when everything's on the line.
"Up, Up And Away" - The album's premiere single by Blush is an intense, synth-driven song from one of today's fastest rising groups.
"Show Ya How" - Adam Irigoyen and Kenton Duty co-star on "Shake It Up," playing Deuce Martinez and exchange student Gunther Hessenheffer. The guys can sing, too, as they prove on this fun and funky celebration song.
"Make Your Mark" - Singer, songwriter and member of Varsity Fanclub, Drew Ryan Scott performs this spirited song about leaving a legacy in the world.
"Don't Push Me" - "The Next Big Thing" rising star Coco Jones returns with this fierce and furious song about reaching your limits.
"Turn It On" - Another young singer who broke open after appearing on "The Next Big Thing," Amber Lily performs one of the album's most pumped-up tracks.
"Moves Like Magic" - One of the new album's surprises is this track from singer-magician Adam Trent. Adam is a world famous illusionist who sings as this ultra-hip dance track shows.
"Critical" - TKO and Nevermind join forces on this double-time shuffle-flavored track, co-written by the hit team of Tim James and Antonia Armato.
"Bring The Fire" - Young female vocalist Ylwa will thrill fans with her forceful rendition of this moving track.
"Where's the Party" - Filipino-American singer Jenilee Reyes made her mark as a member of Kinfolk 6, first discovered on TV's "The Sing-Off." Here she shows her pop chops with one of the album's brightest tracks.
"Surprise" - TKO and Nevermind come back for more – with a little help from with SOS – on this anthem-like song.
"Something To Dance For/TTYLXOX" - The album wraps with this sensational mash-up of the songs from Bella Thorne and Zendaya.
New episodes of "Shake It Up" air Sundays (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. A production of It's a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel, the series carries a TV-G parental guideline.
