Sexuality And Intimacy After Prostate Cancer Is Focus Of Community Seminar
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Online registration is open for a free community seminar on "Sexuality and Intimacy after Prostate Cancer."
Hosted by the newly-created Skyline Urology Foundation, the seminar is offered to men with prostate cancer and/or their spouses or partners who may attend either as couples or as individuals. The seminar will take place on two dates in two Southern California locations: Saturday, Sept. 20, in the Manhattan Beach area and Saturday, Sept. 27, in Sherman Oaks.
The Skyline Urology Foundation is a nonprofit (501c3) organization committed to improving urological healthcare for all persons by providing ongoing, comprehensive education about urologic issues and treatment options, with emphasis on education for diverse and multi-ethnic communities. Created in 2014, the Foundation is affiliated with Skyline Urology, the largest group of urology specialists in the Western United States.
"The Skyline Urology Foundation is a vehicle for our physicians to share our expertise through educational programs not only for our patients, but also for others in the community who have questions about their health," explained Skyline Urology Chief Medical Officer Dr. Richard David.
"We are excited to present this first seminar on a topic that concerns many patients and their partners – sexual intimacy after prostate cancer," he continued. "Many treatment options are available today to fight prostate cancer, but after treatment, some patients struggle with issues related to intimacy. For example, erectile dysfunction may occur, and we want to help educate patients and their partners about treatment options – both medical and behavioral – to address those issues."
The event begins with a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by panel discussions of medical and behavioral issues related to the intimacy concerns of prostate cancer patients and their spouses/partners. Following time for audience questions, the seminar will adjourn by 11:45 a.m. All attendees will receive educational materials and a complimentary keepsake.
Registration is free of charge and limited to adults only, due to the subject matter. Interested adults may register online at www.skyuro.com/foundation.
The Sept. 20 seminar takes place at the Ayres Hotel, 14400 Hindry Ave., Hawthorne. Please register online by Sept.15. The Sept. 27 seminar takes place at the Sherman Oaks Galleria Community Room, 15301 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks. Please register online by Sept. 22.
