NEW YORK, Sept. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Seven Bucks Productions, co-founded by Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia, today announced the appointment of seasoned writer and producer, Brian Gewirtz, as Senior Vice President of Development. Gewirtz joins an experienced senior leadership team where he will be charged with overseeing and creating television content for Seven Bucks Productions. The appointment reflects Seven Bucks Productions' continued commitment to delivering compelling and powerful programming that entertains and inspires their growing audience.
Gewirtz has been creatively collaborating with Dwayne Johnson for over 16 years. He first met Johnson in 1999 while serving as a writer with World Wrestling Entertainment. In 2002 he became lead writer of WWE's flagship show "Monday Night Raw," becoming the youngest lead writer in WWE history. For over 15 years (11 as lead writer) Gewirtz oversaw the WWE's creative department, helping "Monday Night Raw" become the longest running weekly episodic television program in the US. At WWE, Johnson and Gewirtz collaborated on what would become some of the most memorable iconic WWE moments of all time. They continued to work together behind the scenes on Johnson's numerous television appearances, including "The Tonight Show," "Saturday Night Live" and the Academy Awards. In 2013, Gewirtz joined Seven Bucks as a creative consultant. Gewirtz, a 20-year television veteran, began his career writing sitcoms for USA Network, NBC Universal, and FOX Family.
"Brian and I have had a saying for the last 15 years, every time we work together which is "Let's knock this outta the park" and we've been lucky enough to hit a few bangers that are still sailing. We're proud to have Brian join our Seven Bucks team and his invaluable expertise will continue to help us raise the bar in delivering epic, entertaining and quality content," said Johnson. "This is an exciting time for Seven Bucks and we're thrilled to work with Brian to continue producing groundbreaking programming that speaks to a global audience," added Garcia.
Gewirtz will lead the charge on Seven Bucks Productions' ever-expanding slate of original television programming including an overall event deal with Spike TV, an unscripted series for USA Network, season 2 of HBO's record-breaking hit "Ballers" and the much anticipated "Rock the Troops" for Spike TV to name a few.
"I'm incredibly excited to join Dwayne, Dany and the Seven Bucks Productions team and look forward to developing the innovative and inspiring shows that have become the trademark of Seven Bucks," said Gewirtz.
