Servisair Inc. and Teamsters reach new collective agreement
Minister Leitch congratulates parties on ratifying a new agreement for employees at Toronto Pearson International Airport
OTTAWA, July 23, 2014 /CNW/ - Today, the Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated Servisair Inc. and Teamsters Local 419 on ratifying a collective agreement for members working at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The new collective agreement assures a continuation of service for both the travelling public and commercial cargo operations critical to our economy and that of Canada's trading partners.
The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, which provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the Canada Labour Code.

- Servisair Inc. provides aircraft ground handling services at 175 airports worldwide.
- Teamsters Local 419 represents a unit of approximately 520 employees, including groomers and ramp/ground handlers who perform baggage and commercial cargo handling and sorting, as well as de-icing and mechanic functions at Toronto Pearson International Airport. The bargaining unit's previous collective agreement expired on November 30, 2013.
- Over the last five years, more than 94 percent of collective agreements within the federal jurisdiction were settled without a work stoppage when the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service was involved.
