Service Provider Edge Router and Switch Market Reaches Record Levels, According to Dell'Oro Group

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- According to a newly published report by Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, the Service Provider Edge Router and Switch market grew by 8 percent in the second quarter of 2013 versus the year-ago period.  Service Providers continued to invest in mobile backhaul and fixed broadband, pushing sales of routers and switches to its highest ever level.  Market growth was especially strong in the United States and China.

Cisco Systems, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei Technologies, and Juniper Networks were the market share leaders of the Service Provider Edge Router and Switch market, accounting for 88 percent of second quarter revenue.  Cisco retained its number one position for the quarter; Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei, and Juniper were the second, third, and fourth-ranked vendors, respectively.
