ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentrian™, the Remote Patient Intelligence™ Company aspiring to eliminate all preventable hospitalization, announced today that the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) has named the Sentrian Remote Patient Intelligence platform (Sentrian RPI) the 2015 winner of the association's President's Award for Innovation in Remote Health Care.
The ATA award is given to one organization each year in recognition of significant advances in telemedicine including innovative new technologies, novel uses of technology, and new ways of thinking "outside the box." Past winners of the award, inaugurated in 2004, include a handful of private companies as well as the Veterans Administration, the Department of Defense, and the National Center for Telehealth & Technology.
"We are honored to be recognized by ATA with this prestigious award," said Sentrian CEO Dean Sawyer. "The award is validation of the importance of the work we're undertaking with our customers in applying advanced analytics to remote biometric data streams. We believe the technology will drive significant reductions in hospitalization while increasing the efficiency of remote care teams – accomplishments that could greatly expand the efficacy and adoption of telemedicine in healthcare."
The American Telemedicine Association is the leading international resource and advocate promoting the use of advanced remote medical technologies. ATA and its diverse membership work to fully integrate telemedicine into healthcare systems to improve quality, equity and affordability of healthcare throughout the world.
Making Sense of Sensors
Sentrian's predictive analytics platform brings a new paradigm to the rapidly growing market for remote patient monitoring, enabling healthcare payers and providers to exponentially scale their use of remote bio-sensors for managing whole populations of patients with chronic disease.
The Sentrian RPI platform – which is not yet approved for commercial distribution by the US Food & Drug Administration – is designed to keep chronically ill patients out of the hospital by spotting problems in the critical early stages when interventions are less invasive, cheaper, and more likely to succeed. Care managers in Medicare Advantage plans and other healthcare organizations can use the Sentrian RPI platform to affordably increase the reach and effectiveness of their disease management programs.
Sentrian will accept the award at the ATA Annual International Meeting & Trade Show – the premier forum for healthcare professionals and entrepreneurs in the telemedicine, telehealth and mHealth space – held May 2-5, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
