"We are excited that an industry leader like tw telecom is extending its fiber network and award-winning offerings into our NC-1 data center," said Sentinel Data Centers Co-President Todd Aaron. "This relationship with tw telecom expands our roster of top tier network providers and further differentiates our NC-1 facility as the only carrier-neutral, enterprise-class data center in the region."
"With its enterprise focus, Sentinel's NC-1 facility is truly unique in North Carolina," said John Rinehart, Vice President and General Manager for tw telecom in Raleigh. "The large enterprise companies in Sentinel's data centers are the types of clients we serve every day and that require the secure, scalable, and predictable network connectivity between their offices that our Business Ethernet network delivers. In concert with our national network, tw telecom's North Carolina Regional Fiber Network enables customers to reach Sentinel's NC-1 facility easily and cost effectively from other North Carolina cities, such as Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Fayetteville, to support disparate data center applications and business continuity strategies. We look forward to working with Sentinel in their Durham data center to make this facility a model of success."
tw telecom joins a rapidly expanding roster of network providers in the NC-1 facility. As a carrier-neutral, enterprise-class data center, Sentinel's NC-1 facility offers potential tenants a wide diversity of providers from which to choose, insuring flexibility and price competitiveness.
Construction on the NC-1 facility started in late 2012. The first phase will be commissioned this month. The 420,000-square-foot facility is North Carolina's first large-footprint, multi-tenant data center. The facility provides large-enterprise users with dedicated, secure, customizable suites for locating IT infrastructure.
