SENTEL Names Retired Army General Officer William E. "Kip" Ward President And Chief Operation Officer
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SENTEL, an information technology, intelligence, integrated logistics, and engineering services company, has named retired U.S. Army General Officer William E. "Kip" Ward President and Chief Operating Officer. Ward will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of its programs, including leading the company's international expansion. Ward previously served as Senior Adviser at SENTEL, a team that comprises more than 750 individuals.
Before joining SENTEL, Ward was the first Commander of the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), the nation's newest interagency geographic command, responsible for all U.S. defense and security activities on the African continent and its island nations. Prior to commanding AFRICOM, Ward was Deputy Commander, United States European Command, Germany. He was Chief of the Office of Military Cooperation in Cairo, Egypt in 1999 and commanded NATO Forces in Bosnia in 2003. While serving as Deputy Commanding General and Chief of Staff U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army in 2005, Ward was selected by the U.S. Secretary of State to serve as the U.S. Security Coordinator, Israel-Palestinian Authority in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. He also served as the Commander, 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii and held command tours in Germany, Korea, and Somalia, as well as at Ft. Bragg, NC, Ft. Drum, NY, and Ft. Wainwright, AK and as an assistant professor of political science and public policy at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

A native of Baltimore, MD, Ward earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Morgan State University, and a master's degree in political science from Pennsylvania State University. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
