Sensors in Design Summit Launches at Design West
SAN JOSE, February 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
2012 kicks off the inaugural Design West event in San Jose, CA featuring the Sensors in Design summit. The Sensors in Design conference is set to take place on March 28-29, 2012, featuring sessions lead by the top sensor fabricators as well as leading companies utilizing sensor technology in order to enhance functionality and interactivity in their products. Sensors in Design 2012 is being produced in association with Design News, EE Times and MEMS Industry Group.
"We have created a content-rich agenda, which presents cutting-edge product information, informed technology viewpoints, and educational information on sensor applications in a broad range of industries, including electronics, automotives, avionics, robotics and medical devices," says Design News & Sensors in Design Content Director, Alex Wolfe. "We are fortunate to have enlisted the partnership of MEMS Industry Group, which has infused our MEMS track with forward-looking panels on the future of MEMS, and on applications in healthcare, sports and consumer markets."
"MEMS is in the mainstream, and that makes it an important topical area for an engineering design and management audience," said Karen Lightman, managing director, MEMS Industry Group. "MEMS is pervasive and it's changing the ways in which we interact with electronic systems. That's true for handsets, tablets, console video games and other consumer electronics; for automotive safety applications such as airbag sensors and tire pressure monitoring systems; for industrial systems such as energy harvesting and smart building automation; and for quality of life devices such as patient monitors and drug-delivery systems. Our partnership with Design News and EE Times on this conference program will allow us to share the latest design intelligence on advancements in MEMS with Sensors in Design attendees."
A comprehensive speaker faculty allows attendees to learn from those involved in developing cutting-edge technologies driving trends in the design and utilization of sensors. The conference agenda covers a broad range of topics from the fabrication of MEMS sensors and microcontrollers to the architecture of global cloud-based sensing networks to smart-grid sensing designed for large-scale energy management.
Notable speakers include:
- Stephen Whalley, director, sensors, Intel-participating in the panel, "Future of the MEMS market: new and innovative applications";
- Mike Housholder, senior director of solution marketing, InvenSense, Inc. -discussing MEMS in consumer products, handheld electronics and mobile devices;
- Michael Stanley, systems engineer, Freescale Semiconductors-addressing physical design considerations for products incorporating inertial & magnetic sensors; and
- Jay Esfandyari, product manager, MEMS, STMicroelectronics-speaking about embedded MEMS sensor fusion solution in portable devices.
Sensors in Design 2012 offers a two-day dual track conference program, which allows attendees the opportunity for either a broad or narrow content focus. The four unique conference track topics are as follows:
- Leading-Edge Sensor Applications
- MEMS
- Smart Sensing
- Harsh Environments
