NEW YORK, Aug. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- MWWPR today announced that Joel Payne recently joined the agency as Vice President, Corporate Communications. Payne joined the firm's Washington D.C. office.
Payne brings more than 14 years of experience in the public and private sector with a specialized focus in public affairs, crisis communications, issues management, paid and earned media strategy and multicultural outreach. In this role, he will be a senior member of MWWPR’s public affairs and issues management team, developing and implementing strategic, integrated programming.

He joins the MWWPR team from Qorvis MSLGROUP where he was one of MSL's leading public affairs specialists, leading the firm's work with the American Chemistry Council, the USAA, the National Institutes of Health funding campaign for the Alzheimer's Association and a consumer outreach campaign for South Jersey Gas.
Payne's experience in politics ranges across industries including media, insurance/financial services, nonprofit and automotive, servicing clients such as Al Jazeera America TV, General Motors, National Patient Advocate Foundation, American Pharmacists Association and Jackson National Life Insurance. He was recognized as a PR News "People to Watch" Honoree in 2013.
In 2016, Payne served as director of African-American paid media & advertising for the Hillary for America general election presidential campaign. In that role, he oversaw and executed a multimillion dollar paid media outreach program to engage African-American voters, the largest such effort in political history. As deputy national press secretary for then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Payne played a leading role in messaging for the passage of the Affordable Care Act, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform bill, the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and the confirmation of two Supreme Court justices.
Payne frequently appears on television and radio as a Democratic strategist on FOX News, FOX Business, MSNBC, CBS News, TV One Newsmax, the Bill Press Radio Show and One America News among other outlet and will continue to do so as part of his role at the agency.
