Marathon Petroleum Corporatio Analyst Notes
On May 30, 2014, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) announced that its refinery in Garyville has been hit by a tornado on May 28, 2014, resulting in a damage to a cooling water system that serves part of the refinery which caused the No. 1 crude unit and other units to be taken off-line. The Company informed that the stated crude unit is expected to be operational by mid-June, 2014 based on the initial assessment of the damage and needed repairs. MPC projects less than a 5 % reduction to its prior throughput guidance for this quarter. PPG Industries Inc. Analyst Notes
On May 28, 2014, PPG Industries Inc. (PPG) reported that its industrial coatings business has introduced TRENDCAST Styling Directions 2014, a complete portable tool kit that will help designers of appliances electronics, recreational equipment and other products identify colour trends to meet the customer taste for the next two years. The Company stated that the tool kit reflects the latest trends in colours, effects, and tactile sensations for coated surfaces based on a consensus of 35 PPG global colour experts from the Americas, Europe, and Asia. According to PPG, experts created a texture and 38-colour palette, and to do so they have analysed design trends and consumer preferences across geographic and product markets that affect colour choice. The Company added that the palette themes are Theorem, New Spirit, Mosaic, and Hi-Breed. Cobalt International Energy, Inc. Analyst Notes
On May 13, 2014, Cobalt International Energy, Inc. (Cobalt) reported the closing of its previously announced registered underwritten public offering of $1.3 billion aggregate principal amount of its 3.125% convertible senior notes due 2024 (Notes). Cobalt said that the offer includes the exercise in full by the underwriters of their over-allotment option to purchase an additional $150 million aggregate principal amount of the Notes. The Company said that it intends to use the aggregate net proceeds of approximately $1.27 billion from the sale of the Notes to fund its capital expenditures and for general corporate purposes.
