Sendmail Appoints Glen D. Vondrick Chief Executive Officer
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sendmail today announced that it has appointed Glen D. Vondrick president and chief executive officer, succeeding Donald J. Massaro. Vondrick has been president and chief operating officer of Sendmail since 2008. During this time, he and Massaro worked closely to successfully transition the company from an open source and software-only company to the leader of enterprise email infrastructure appliances while establishing a unique market position in the messaging security space.
Vondrick has led Sendmail's customer-facing, global operations including Sales, Professional Services, Customer Support, Business Development, and Marketing. During his tenure as president and COO, the company tripled sales as the Sendmail Sentrion Email Infrastructure Platform became the de facto standard email backbone adopted by major Fortune 500 enterprises and government agencies around the globe.
"Glen Vondrick's proven expertise in leading teams in the execution of Sendmail's strategy under Don Massaro provides the company with a seamless, logical, and natural succession," said Peter Chung, member of the Sendmail Board of Directors and Managing Director, Morgan Stanley Venture Partners.
Vondrick brings more than 30 years of high-tech industry experience, including executive leadership roles over the past 15 years in the messaging security space. Prior to Sendmail, Vondrick served as president and chief executive officer of FaceTime Communications where he was responsible for repositioning the company to become the market leader in instant messaging management, compliance, and security solutions for Global 2000 enterprises. Previously, Vondrick held senior leadership positions at Inference Corporation (acquired by eGain Communications), Autodesk, Inc., and Ithaca Software (acquired by Autodesk, Inc.).
"Glen's years of executive experience in the messaging market, and his close relationships with enterprise IT executives and strategic partners across the globe, make him the ideal choice to lead Sendmail as it enters its next growth phase," added Chung.
"With the increasing global adoption of employees using personal mobile devices for business purposes, and the rapid migration of more email services to the cloud, enterprises now more than ever need to modernize their outdated messaging infrastructures," said Sendmail President and Chief Executive Officer Glen Vondrick. "With our record performance the past three years, Sendmail is uniquely poised to help enterprises reduce the complexity and costs of business email. l am very excited to lead the company into this new era."
