In his biography, Brown writes candidly of a painful, nomadic childhood, growing up with an often absent father and a mother who struggled with alcohol and self-control. His book has sparked some controversy because he detailed several incidents of childhood sexual abuse by a camp counselor and beatings from a stepfather when he was six years old.
Copies of "Against All Odds" will be available at Homes for Our Troops, with proceeds from the signing benefiting the organization. Senator Brown is a member of the Honorary Congressional Committee established for the 100 More…Homes for Our Troops campaign, launched last year, through which the organization has committed to building 100 more specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans within the next three years.
