WASHINGTON, Nov. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren will deliver remarks at the National Press Club on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Ms. Warren is a Democratic senator from Massachusetts and widely recognized as the architect of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau or CFPB. She served as chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel for the Troubled Asset Relief Program in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis before setting up the CFPB. She was elected to her first term in the Senate in 2012.
An outspoken progressive who has written extensively on issues relating to economic fairness, Ms. Warren was a professor for nearly 20 years at Harvard Law School. She has published ten books, including three best-sellers, A Fighting Chance, The Two-Income Trap, and All Your Worth.
A native of Oklahoma, Ms. Warren grew up in modest circumstances – what she calls "the ragged edge of the middle class." She entered law school after having her first child and first practiced law from an office in her living room before becoming a professor.
Beloved by the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, Ms. Warren has been urged to seek the Democratic nomination for president. A "Draft Warren" group was even set up in 2013 to pressure her to enter the campaign.
The event, sponsored by the NPC Speakers Committee, will follow the format of an NPC lunch, but lunch will not be served. The event will be held in the Fourth Estate Restaurant.
