Senator Carl Levin to Speak at MEMA Legislative Summit

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) is pleased to announce that the Honorable Carl Levin, U.S. Senator from Michigan, will address attendees of the 2014 MEMA Legislative Summit as the breakfast keynote speaker on April 3, 2014 in Washington, D.C.

Levin, a long-time ally of the motor vehicle parts manufacturing industry, serves as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and is the Co-Chair of the Senate Auto Caucus.

In 2007, he received the Joseph M. Magliochetti Industry Champion Award at the MEMA Legislative Summit. His leadership during the economic crisis of 2008 and 2009 to preserve the domestic auto industry was essential to the U.S. economy and to the survival of the motor vehicle parts manufacturing industry.

In more recent years, Levin has been an active player in several issues impacting the industry, including clean energy legislation, domestic production in the auto industry and increased funding for suppliers. Levin announced last year that he would not seek re-election in the 2014 midterm elections.
