Sen. Rick Santorum Wins 76 Percent of Support in FRC Action's Online Straw Poll
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Family Research Council Action's (FRC Action) and the Heritage Foundation's Values Bus stopped at Covenant Christian High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, ahead of tomorrow's GOP presidential primary elections in Michigan and Arizona.
FRC Action Senior Vice President Tom McClusky and Heritage Foundation Vice President Genevieve Wood were joined by U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-Michigan) and Covenant Christian High School Principal Rick Noorman. McClusky presented Rep. Huizenga with FRC Action's "True Blue Award" in recognition of his perfect pro-family voting record in the last Congressional session.
The Heritage Foundation is educating voters about its "Saving the American Dream" plan during the Values Bus national tour. Heritage, Wood and other employees in their official capacities do not participate in any campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, a candidate for public office.
Also during the stop, McClusky released the results of a nine-day online poll of FRC Action's grassroots activists about whom they want to be the GOP presidential nominee. In all, 29,495 supporters voted. The results are below:
Santorum: 22,409 (76 percent)
Gingrich: 2,779 (9 percent)
Paul: 2,089 (7 percent)
Romney: 1,445 (5 percent)
Other: 737 (2 percent)
The online straw poll results slightly exceed the almost 75 percent of the vote that Senator Santorum received at last month's Texas meeting of 150 evangelical leaders.
Family Research Council Action and its president, Tony Perkins, have not endorsed any candidate in the GOP presidential primary.
