ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Feb. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq: MSCC), a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, hosted Sen. John McCain, currently chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, at its Phoenix facility on Feb. 18. Discussions during the visit addressed the criticality of having a trusted solution resource such as Microsemi when providing products for defense and government programs. McCain's visit to the Microsemi office included a tour of the facility, discussions with executives highlighting the company's unique products and expertise in security, and a town hall meeting with employees.
"It was a pleasure to speak with the hardworking employees at Microsemi in Phoenix, Arizona and address their questions and concerns about the world we live in today," said McCain. "These Arizonans are doing important work to strengthen the defense and cyber security industries, which are vital for the security of our nation during these complex and turbulent times, while also making an impact on our state's economy."
Microsemi is one of a few companies to deliver Trusted Integrated Circuit solutions that can be leveraged in today's critical applications requiring assurance of silicon design and manufacturing as outlined in the Department of Defense (DOD) policy (DODI 5200.44). DODI 5200.44 further defines the protection of mission critical components within applicable systems by requiring all custom integrated circuit-related products be procured from a trusted supplier.
"It was a tremendous honor for the senator to meet with our executives and employees as we shared how Microsemi's significant expertise in security can bring critical capabilities to our government and military," said John Costello, Microsemi's corporate vice president of business development and government relations. "We appreciate Sen. McCain taking the time to exchange ideas and discuss new solutions to today's cyber security issues and other growing threats."
Microsemi customers have a trusted supplier with one of the broadest portfolios of semiconductor IP—including one which carries through to the development of ASICs and FPGAs with a Category 1A trusted flow that augments the Microsemi trusted packaging accreditation in Microsemi's Phoenix, Arizona location. Microsemi's U.S.-based design team can take on a wide range of new "Trusted & ITAR" projects for various government and communications infrastructure programs.
