WASHINGTON, Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) will discuss his latest book, "THEM: Why We Hate Each Other – and How to Heal," at a National Press Club Headliners Luncheon and Book Signing Event on Wednesday, October 31 at 12:30 p.m. in the Club's Holeman Lounge.
In "THEM," Sasse argues that the deepening divide within our nation is not the product of any one political party, person or event, but rather the gradual erosion of our sense of community and belonging, and our subsequent efforts to fill that void with what Sasse calls "Anti-tribes" on social media and cable news – people whose views, values and enemies mirror our own. To fix what is broken, Sasse says we need to rebuild the institutions that hold our local communities up and start talking to one another again.
Lunch will be served in the Club's Holeman Lounge at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2:00 p.m. Sasse will sign copies of his book after the program concludes. Tickets are $25 for Press Club members (Club members may purchase two tickets at this price) and $39 for the general public. When purchasing tickets for this event online, buyers will also have the option of purchasing copies of the book at check-out. To purchase tickets and copies of the book, please click here.
Books will also be available for purchase at the event. Proceeds from book sales will benefit the non-profit affiliate of the Club, the National Press Club Journalism Institute, so we kindly ask that you leave all outside books and memorabilia at home.
For all ticketing-related questions, please email [email protected]. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.
