Select Medical and UF Health Open Doors of New Rehabilitation Hospital to Serve Northern Florida Region
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. and GAINESVILLE, Fla., Feb. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Select Medical and UF Health today announced the official opening of UF Health Rehab Hospital, a collaboration between the two health care providers. The 50-bed hospital is expected to begin admitting patients on Feb. 19, 2019.
In celebration of the opening, UF Health and Select Medical will host an invitation-only celebration event on Feb. 12, 2019 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at 2708 SW Archer Road in Gainesville. Select Medical President and CEO David Chernow and UF Health Shands CEO Ed Jimenez will offer remarks, followed by tours of the new facility. Media are welcome to attend.
In collaboration with UF Health, Select Medical will operate the new facility, which will serve the needs of patients in the Northern Florida region requiring care resulting from stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation and neurological disorders, among other conditions.
