Program to help students "Gain Experience and Access Results"

HOUSTON, June 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Select Energy Services, LLC (Select) and the Gainesville Independent School District (GISD) today announced the launch of GEAR, a program designed to help students become college and career-ready after high school.

The program gives students access to high quality, hands on business training in a variety of disciplines, including accounting, human resources, operations, IT and marketing.

GEAR also provides students the opportunity to earn scholarship money to pursue higher education. Select is the first company to be offering the training at its Gainesville operational headquarters, but the partnership will recruit additional Gainesville companies to join the initiative.

"Select's goal in supporting this program is preparing students to contribute to the workforce and their community and giving them the opportunity to earn money for college," said John Schmitz, Select Energy Services CEO. "We look forward to the results of this first project in Gainesville, and plan to roll out GEAR as a signature project in the areas we serve across the country."

The program is open to students in grades 10-12 with a B grade or higher in coursework relevant to the student's area of concentration. Student applicants should be spirited, driven and hard working. A desire to pursue secondary education is a must; interest in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
