Seeking Films, Performers, and Entrepreneurs for the 23rd Annual Cucalorus Festival!

WILMINGTON, N.C., April 18, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cucalorus is accepting submissions for its 23rd annual festival, November 8-12, 2017! Embracing the film festival's tradition of showcasing innovation beyond the screen, Cucalorus is exploring creativity through three main programs: Film, Stage, and Connect.

During the five-day celebration in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, thousands of filmmakers, artists, entrepreneurs, and creative explorers come together for an inclusive, international, and interactive cultural exchange. Accumulated attendance at the 2016 festival was 17,874, with travelers coming from around the world for the retreat-style gathering known for its late night parties and unexpected programming.

Cucalorus Film Festival
Cucalorus Film seeks entries from low-budget shorts to award-winning features-- if you make it, we'll take it! Thematic programs cover everything under the sun with a heaping dose of social justice, emerging artists, works-in-progress, shorts (200 of 'em!!!), dance, international cinema, music videos, and Southern filmmakers. Each year, 50% of all festival films are directed or produced by women. Cucalorus Film submissions can include everything from experimental animations to virtual reality and beyond.

Cucalorus Stage Experience
Cucalorus Stage seeks performances in music, dance, theatre, comedy and installation, with programs showcasing slam poetry, one-woman shows, pork-belly punk bands, stand-up routines, and immersive experiences! Stage programs include Dance-a-lorus, the Bus to Lumberton, and Visual/Sound/Walls.

Cucalorus Connect Conference
Cucalorus Connect highlights entrepreneurs with pitches, panels, speakers, workshops, and events featuring hot new startups and emerging economic trends. Cucalorus Connect provides thought-leaders, aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and community members a platform to cultivate powerful relationships across a range of different industries, from healthcare to financial services.

Regular Deadline: June 22nd
Late Deadline: July 13th
